ਪਿੰਡ ਜਗਤਪੁਰਾ ‘ਚ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਸਰਪੰਚ ਚੁਣਨ ‘ਤੇ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਸਿਰਜ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੂਲ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਸਨੀਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੇਵਲ 900 ਵੋਟਾਂ ਹਨ, ਜਦਕਿ ਇੱਥੇ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੋਟਾਂ 6500 ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਹਨ। ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਰਬਸੰਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਧਾਰੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਪੰਚ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੋਟਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਐਸੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਪੰਚ ਚੁਣਨਾ ਵੀ ਔਖਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਕੁਝ ਸਮਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਅੰਬ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇੜੇ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਲੋਨੀ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਹਟਾ ਕੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਜਗਤਪੁਰਾ ਨੇੜੇ ਕੁਝ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਹ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਹੁਣ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਪੱਖੋਂ ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਵੋਟ ਬੈਂਕ ਬਣ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਸੱਤ-ਅੱਠ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਹੈ। ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਆਗੂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਲਈ ਭਰਮਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਵਸਨੀਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ‘ਚ ਕਾਫੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
In a village where electing even a Punjabi Panch is becoming challenging, there are only around 900 votes from native Punjabi residents, while the migrant population holds over 6500 votes. The villagers had initially agreed upon selecting an Amritdhari individual as the Sarpanch through consensus, but with the overwhelming number of migrant votes, choosing even a Panch now seems difficult.
According to reports, a large colony of migrant laborers was previously settled near Gurdwara Amb Sahib. They were later relocated by the government to land near the village of Jagatpura. This settlement of laborers has become a major vote bank for political leaders due to their population, estimated to be around 7,000 to 8,000. During state or national elections, political leaders often try to influence these migrants for votes. The consequences of these political interests are now being faced by the original residents of the village.
