ਅੱਜ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਵਰਕਿੰਗ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਮਨੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੜੀਆਂ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ। ਦੱਸ ਦੇਈਏ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ 13 ਨਵੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਹਲਕਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਜ਼ਿਮਨੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਹੋਣ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਆਗੂ ਡਾ.ਦਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੀਮਾ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਲਈ ਚੋਣ ਵਿਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਵੇਗੀ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। 30 ਅਗਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਨਖਾਹੀਆਂ ਐਲਾਨਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ 31 ਅਗਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋਏ। ਪਰ ਕਾਫੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਬੀਤ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ। ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਚਾਰ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਸੀਟਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਉਪ ਚੋਣ ਹੈ। ਲੋਕ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਬਾਦਲ ਗਿੱਦੜਬਾਹਾ ਹਲਕੇ ਤੋਂ ਚੋਣ ਲੜਨ। ਪਰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ। ਸਮੁੱਚੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੇ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਬਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਭੂੰਦੜ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਤਨਖਾਹੀਆਂ ਐਲਾਨਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਦੇ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਰਘਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਤਨਖਾਹੀਆਂ ਉਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਤਨਖਾਹੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤਨਖ਼ਾਹ ਪੂਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤਨਖ਼ਾਹ ਬਾਰੇ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਨੇ 1992 ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਈਕਾਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ
1992 ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਨੇ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਈਕਾਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬਣੇ। ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ 1995 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਗਿੱਦੜਬਾਹਾ ਉਪ ਚੋਣ ਹੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਉਥੋਂ ਚੋਣ ਲੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੱਤੇ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ 1997 ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਨੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਣਾਈ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਨੇ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪੁਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ।
In a meeting of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Working Committee held today, the party has decided not to contest the upcoming by-elections. It is important to note that by-elections for four Assembly constituencies in Punjab are scheduled for November 13. This announcement was made by senior party leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema during a press conference. However, the party will participate in the election for the post of Shiromani Committee President.
Cheema stated, “We have always adhered to the directives of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. On August 30, the President was declared ‘Tankhaiya’ (subject to religious punishment). He appeared before Sri Akal Takht Sahib on August 31. Despite the passage of time, multiple requests were made to Singh Sahib to issue a decision. Now, by-elections are approaching for four Assembly seats. Many people wanted President Sukhbir Badal to contest from Gidderbaha constituency. However, with the recent directive from Jathedar Sahib, it is clear that he cannot campaign. The entire party has decided to respect the decision of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and will not go against it. Therefore, the decision has been made to stay away from the elections.”
The meeting was chaired by SAD’s Acting President, Balwinder Singh Bhundar. This decision comes at a time when party President Sukhbir Singh Badal has been declared ‘Tankhaiya’ by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht has already clarified that one remains a ‘Tankhaiya’ until they complete their religious punishment. A final decision on his punishment will be made after Diwali.
SAD Boycotted the 1992 Elections
It is worth mentioning that in the 1992 Punjab Assembly elections, SAD had boycotted the elections, during which Beant Singh became Chief Minister. In 1995, when the Gidderbaha by-election was held, Manpreet Singh Badal contested and won. Later, in 1997, SAD formed a government in alliance with the BJP.
This is the first time since then that SAD has chosen to step away from elections. SAD is one of the oldest political parties in the country.
