ਜੂਨ ੧੯੮੪ ਦਾ ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਪੰਥ ਲਈ ਅਸਹਿ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਸੀ। ਜਨਰਲ ਅਰੁਨਕੁਮਾਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਧਰ ਵੈਦਿਆ ਉਸ ਦੌਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਕਮਾਂਡਰ ਇਨ-ਚੀਫ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਂਡ ਹੇਠ ਫੌਜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਮੇਤ ਹੋਰ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਹੁਰਮਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਢਹਿ-ਢੇਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ। ਜਨਰਲ ਵੈਦਿਆ ਫੌਜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਰਿਟਾਇਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪੂਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਖਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁੱਖਾ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਬੇਹੁਰਮਤੀ, ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਤਲੇਆਮ ਤੇ ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫਾਂਸੀ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਹੋਈ। ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਮਿਤੀ ੯ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ੧੯੯੨ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੇਰੇ ੪ ਵਜੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਖਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁੱਖਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਨੇ ਫਾਂਸੀ ‘ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪਾਈ।
The June 1984 Operation Bluestar was a deeply traumatic event for the Sikh community. General Arun Kumar Sridhar Vaidya, who was the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army during that time, oversaw the military operation that led to the desecration of Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) and other gurdwaras, as well as the destruction of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. After retiring from the army, General Vaidya settled in Pune, where Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda and Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha avenged the desecration of the holy places and the massacre of Sikhs during the operation. Both Singh brothers were sentenced to death for this act. On the morning of October 9, 1992, at 4 AM, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha and Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda were executed and attained martyrdom.
