ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ MP ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੰਨੀ ਨੇ ਵਿਵਾਦਿਤ ਬਿਆਨ ਲਈ ਮੰਗੀ ਮਾਫੀ
ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੰਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਜਾਰੀ, ਬਿਆਨ ‘ਤੇ ਮੰਗੀ ਮੁਆਫੀ
ਜਲੰਧਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਸਦ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੰਨੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਵਾਦਿਤ ਬਿਆਨ ‘ਤੇ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਮਾਫੀ ਮੰਗੀ ਹੈ। ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਵੜਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ-ਜੱਟ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ‘ਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ‘ਤੇ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਚੰਨੀ ਨੂੰ 11 ਵਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।
ਚੰਨੀ ਨੇ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਕਦਰਾਂ-ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੇਸ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਮੁਆਫੀ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਜੇਤੂ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਆਫੀ ਮੰਗਣੀ ਸਿਖਾਈ ਹੈ।”
ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਬਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਸਪੀਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖਣਗੇ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਚੰਨੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ, ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
ਚੰਨੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਿਆਨ ‘ਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਜੱਟ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਪਤਨੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ “ਕੁੱਤੇ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ” ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ‘ਤੇ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
ਚੰਨੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਵਿਵਾਦਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। 2018 ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਆਈਏਐਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਤਰਾਜ਼ਯੋਗ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਭੇਜਣ ‘ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੁਆਫੀ ਮੰਗੀ ਸੀ।
Charanjit Singh Channi Issued Notice by Women’s Commission, Apologizes for Controversial Statement
Jalandhar Member of Parliament Charanjit Singh Channi has apologized for his controversial statement after the Women’s Commission issued a notice to him. The notice was issued in response to his remarks about women and the Brahmin-Jatt community during the election campaign of Congress candidate Amrita Warring. The Women’s Commission directed Channi to appear in person by 11 AM.
In a media interaction, Channi said, “My values do not align with such statements, but if I have hurt anyone’s feelings, I apologize. Women have made me victorious, and my family taught me to seek forgiveness with humility.”
The Women’s Commission also stated that they will write a letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha regarding this issue. The Punjab Election Commission said they had not received any complaints about Channi’s actions, but if any complaints are received, they will take appropriate action.
Channi had previously made a statement about Jatt men having two wives, and both calling each other “the dog’s wife,” which led the Women’s Commission to issue the notice.
Channi has been involved in controversies before. In 2018, he had sent inappropriate messages to a female IAS officer, for which he later apologized.
