ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਧਾਮੀ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪੱਤਰ
ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ (ਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲਸਾ):- ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਹਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਮੀ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਨਗਰ ਨਿਗਮ ਤੇ ਨਗਰ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਜਨਵਰੀ 2025 ਵਿਚ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪੱਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦਸੰਬਰ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਪੰਦਰਵਾੜਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਡੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦਸਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਿਆਂ, ਮਾਤਾ ਗੁਜਰ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤਾਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ’ਚ ਭਾਵੁਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਲੰਘਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੇਜ਼ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਸਾਨੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਇਹ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਮਨਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਰਬੰਸਦਾਨੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪੁਰਬ ਵੀ 6 ਜਨਵਰੀ 2025 ਨੂੰ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੰਪਰਾਵਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਧਾਮੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਗਰ ਨਿਗਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਗਰ ਕੌਂਸਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਣੀਆਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੱਧਰ ’ਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਰੀਕਾਂ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪੰਦਰਵਾੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਸਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪੁਰਬ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਤੈਅ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਹਾੜਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਨਗਰ ਨਿਗਮ ਅਤੇ ਨਗਰ ਕੌਂਸਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਤਰੀਕਾਂ ਜਨਵਰੀ 2025 ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ।
New Delhi (Manpreet Singh Khalsa): Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has written to the Chief Election Commissioner of Punjab, urging that municipal corporation and municipal council elections be held in January 2025.
In his letter, Advocate Dhami highlighted that the second fortnight of December holds immense significance in Sikh history, as it marks the martyrdom of the four Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Mata Gujri Ji, and devoted Sikhs. He stated that during this period, the Sikh community is immersed in deep emotion and reverence, refraining from any celebratory events as a mark of respect for the martyrs. These days are observed with devotion and remembrance of their unparalleled sacrifices.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Sarbans Dani (the great sacrificer), falls on January 6, 2025. This day is celebrated with utmost reverence by Sikhs worldwide, following Khalsa traditions.
Advocate Dhami emphasized that holding municipal elections during this sacred period would be inappropriate. He shared that Sikh devotees have been reaching out to the SGPC, requesting that the election dates be scheduled with due consideration of the Shaheedi Fortnight and Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Parkash Purab. Consequently, the SGPC has appealed to the Chief Election Commissioner of Punjab to consider the sentiments of the Sikh community and historical significance while finalizing the election schedule, suggesting that the elections be held in January 2025.
